I first met Deer Deity in 2013. Cynthia, Angel, and I sat in Spring Equinox ceremony deep in the mountains East of San Jose. We laid gifts for her in song and flower, waiting by a moist patch of soil sprouting horsetail and mugwort. The clearing was just beyond a cabin I was living in, which since burned down in the 2020 SCU Lightning Complex Fires. The Spring Deer deity came half-human, half-hoofed, to the spring, coming too. She appeared just beyond the driveway.
